Tip 1: Old Boiler
Older boilers use more energy. Therefore, you should replace you boiler if you have had it for more than 15 years.


Tip 2: Keep Doors Closed
Keeping your doors closed will keep the heat in. Also keep an eye on your door for drafts, as even the smallest hole or crack in a door can let the cold air in.


Tip 3: Screen Your Energy Usage
If you want to see the amount of energy you’re actually using then get an energy monitor. You will also be able to estimate your energy bills.


Tip 4: Buy Local
When possible buy your groceries from a local supplier. Before your food arrives at your local store, it has produced tonnes of carbon to get there.


Tip 5: Fertilizer
Grow your garden with your leftover food. Get a composter and place things such as potato peels into and over time it will turn into fertilizer.


Tip 6: Insulate Your Household
If you have good insulation in your house then your heating bill will be a lot lower. Those with poor insulation will constantly be paying to reheat their home.


Tip 7: Water Container Jackets
You can decrease your water by almost three-quarters by having a jacket for your water tank. It will also keep the water warm for longer.


Tip 8: Boiling Water
A full kettle will use more energy than a half filled one. So if you’re making one drink, then only put in what you’re going to use.


Tip 9: Lights
Energy effective light bulbs will decrease the amount of you’re using at home. Normal light bulbs use more energy.


Tip 10: Central heating Oil
Slow burning central heating oil has been created. The quantity kerosene you use will be reduced. Consequently less carbon is produced.
